Overview

What is Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38?

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 (trade name: Matrixyl Synthe'6) is the 3rd-generation matrix signaling peptide developed by Sederma, a subsidiary of Croda. It is listed in the Chinese Inventory of Cosmetic Raw Materials. Modified with palmitic acid to improve lipophilicity, it can transmit repair signals to skin fibroblasts. It stimulates the synthesis of six dermal matrix components: Collagen I/III/IV, fibronectin, laminin 5 and hyaluronic acid. Meanwhile, it inhibits MMPs to reduce collagen degradation, delivering anti-wrinkle & firming benefits, reinforcing the dermo-epidermal junction, and improving skin laxity and photoaging.

This raw material features low irritation. It should be added at low temperature during formulation. Widely applied in anti-aging serums, creams and eye creams. It is for external cosmetic use only.

Product FAQ

What is Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38?

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 (INCI: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, trade name: Matrixyl Synthe'6) is a lipid-modified signaling peptide, listed in the Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China. Its palmitoyl side chain improves lipophilicity. In vitro cell studies indicate it helps modulate the expression of 6 types of dermal matrix-related proteins, and it is commonly used in the development of anti-wrinkle and firming formulations.

What is the recommended dosage of Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38?

Recommended dosage of pure peptide in finished cosmetic formulations: 0.001–0.05%. The commonly used dosage of pre-made peptide solution (carrier form) in commercial finished products is 2~4%. Operation note: add into aqueous phase during cooling stage (≤40°C). The final efficacy performance is jointly determined by formulation system, pH and co-ingredients.

What raw materials can be combined with Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, and which should be avoided?

✅ Recommended co-ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, Ergothioneine, Ectoin, Niacinamide, stabilized Retinol, other cosmetic peptide raw materials. ❌ Avoid: Unbuffered high-concentration L-Ascorbic Acid, strong oxidizing raw materials, extreme strong acid or strong alkaline systems.

What are the differences between Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7?

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 is a multi-target matrix signaling peptide, capable of modulating the expression of 6 matrix proteins simultaneously in vitro. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 focuses on the regulation of a single collagen-related pathway. Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 tends to soothe stress-associated aging. Selection can be based on formulation positioning; multiple peptides can be compounded for synergistic effects.
