Overview

What is Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3?Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 (short for Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, AT-3) is a water-soluble biomimetic signal peptide and the core active ingredient of Capixyl™, a well-known hair care complex. In vitro, it mimics human signal peptides to stimulate fibroblasts to synthesize type III collagen, type VII collagen and laminin, reinforcing the epidermal-dermal junction structure, boosting hair follicle anchoring capacity and extending the hair growth phase. In formulations, it helps maintain hair follicle stability and assists in improving the sparse appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes. Meanwhile, it can promote dermal collagen production to help maintain skin firmness in skincare formulas. As a cosmetic raw material included in China Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients, it appears as a white powder with a formulation pH range of 4.0–8.0. It is widely applied in scalp serums, brow & lash care liquids, hair care and anti-aging skincare products. Compliance Note: It is a cosmetic raw material only and has no medicinal therapeutic effects. Finished products shall not claim therapeutic effects for hair loss.

Applications
Hair & Scalp Care
1. Root care serums: Used as active ingredient in scalp care serums, suitable for formulations targeting fine and soft hair. In vitro, it reinforces follicle anchoring structure and extends the hair growth phase, helping maintain stable hair roots. 2. Shampoo & conditioner products: Applied in scalp-care shampoo and conditioner formulas to soothe the scalp microenvironment, help reduce hair breakage and improve hair strand toughness. 3. Brow & lash care: Incorporated into brow and lash nourishing serum formulas to condition the follicle microenvironment of brows and eyelids, supporting a fuller-looking appearance of brows and lashes.
Facial Anti-Aging & Skin Repair
1. Anti-aging firming products: Used in anti-aging serums, creams and eye cream formulations. In vitro, it promotes synthesis of type III and type VII collagen as well as laminin, helping sustain the dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ) structure, improve skin elasticity and firmness, and reduce the appearance of fine lines around eyes and facial sagging. 2. Scalp repair products: Added into scalp repair essence formulas to soothe scalp, preserve scalp barrier, and improve the appearance of redness, excess oil and dandruff.
Product FAQ
What is Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3?
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, also known as AT-3, is a water-soluble biomimetic signal peptide and the core active component of the Capixyl™ complex. In vitro, it stimulates fibroblasts to produce type III collagen, type VII collagen and laminin to strengthen hair follicle anchoring. It can be applied for scalp, eyebrow and eyelash care, and also assists collagen synthesis in skincare formulations to help maintain a firm skin appearance. Included in China Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients, this product is for cosmetic raw material use only and is not a drug.
Is Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 commonly called lash-boosting peptide. Can it grow new eyebrow and eyelash hairs?
"Lash-boosting peptide" is an industry nickname. Its in vitro mechanism is to reinforce follicle anchoring, help stabilize hair follicles and maintain a fuller appearance of brows and lashes. It does not generate new hair. Finished products must not claim to promote hair growth.
What is the recommended dosage of Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3?
For pure Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 powder, the recommended dosage is 0.001~0.005%, with a maximum suggested level of 0.02%. If using pre-dissolved aqueous raw material, recalculate the dosage based on the effective peptide content.
What is the difference between Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 and Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1? Can they be formulated together?
In vitro, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 focuses on reinforcing the follicle base and strengthening follicle anchoring; Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 mainly activates dermal papilla cells. The two can be combined in scalp / brow & lash care formulas to synergistically maintain a healthy follicle environment.
